Long time no talk-y. I have no excuse... except that I have three kids and I'm tired and busy. I'll let that speak for me.
I'm loving the spring weather in Texas (minus the floods/constant rain), and my natural spring instinct is to deep clean and refresh my home. There's nothing like a clean, cool home with the air blowing through the windows, the smell of laundry drying, and bright, natural sunlight drenching your rooms.
I've done quite a bit of deep "spring cleaning," but I've also been working to keep my house fresh every day. (And no, I can't explain why I don't have that same urge during other seasons. I'll ask God when I get to heaven.) I've rounded up a few of my favorite essentials that help me keep my house spring fresh on a daily basis.
1: laundry baskets It's probably a problem how many laundry baskets I have. I sort junk, toys, clean/dirty clothes -whatever I want- in laundry baskets. I could not live without them (tip: take one around the house and clear all the junk from a room or rooms that doesn't belong, put it in the basket, and sort). 2: dish towels Obviously. 3: lemon essential oil Yes, I'm one of those. I diffuse it, drop it in my water for an energy burst, sprinkle some down my garbage disposal. You name it. It smells fresh and works hard. 4: Meyers Clean Day glass cleaner I love a natural, non-toxic glass cleaner (when I'm not using my Norwex- see #10). And this one has a great smell, also. 5: wicker baskets Different from laundry baskets, I use wicker baskets all throughout my house to store things from flip flops to cleaning supplies. They make for great decor, as well. 6: eucalyptus candle Y'all, I'm not even kidding. A eucalyptus candle, especially with mint, is spring-in-a-candle. It's clean and light and it really does inspire me to clean. 7: yummy smelling (and nicely packaged) hand soap Obviously. 8: sensitive skin baby wipes Next to laundry baskets, this is my next biggest addiction. I use baby wipes- and yes they have to be sensitive, because those are more cloth-like- on everything. Counters, doors, shoes, upholstery, you name it. 9: Norwex cloths I just discovered these, and I'm still learning about their many uses. But if you're interested in fewer cleaning supplies + less steps in your cleaning routine, you should definitely check them out. 10: Young Living essential oil diffuser It's air freshener with a purpose. I love diffusing peppermint + a citrus, or joy + eucalyptus. It's super motivating and adds to that Spring freshness I was talking about. Plus, it's good for you! 11: Honest Company Multi-Purpose Cleaner If I'm going to use a cleaner, this is my favorite. It's light and non-streaky, plus eco-friendly. 12: a vacuum Because carpet lines make my heart sing. 13: eco-friendly dish soap I'm going to use it anyway, so I might as well be "green" about it while I'm at it. And the smell of Meyer's Clean Day makes my least favorite chore a bit more bearable.
So what about you? What household essentials help get you moving during the spring season? I'd love to hear!
